This course is designed for head office management teams that operate in support of the management at the site of the emergency and are required to respond during what is often referred to as level 2 and level 3 emergencies. The training will provide the management team with the skills, knowledge and ability to support the emergency site management in its operational, technical and logistical needs while also managing the extremely important task of meeting the information demands from concerned relatives of the staff, calls from the local community, media enquiries and stakeholder enquiries. The training will be based on the ICS system.

Introductions and and course registrations
Establishing the Response Structure
Explanation of the role and function of Emergency Response and Crisis Management Teams and includes a review of past performance of such teams during actual incidents.
The Site, The Emergency Procedures
Description of the production/drilling/or other facility and procedures to be used for the training.
Command and Control techniques
Description of techniques which have been recognized internationally as the most effective in managing emergency command and control.
Incident Simulation One
Simulation of incident designed to familiarize participants with the exercise method and provide ‘hands on’ practice in applying the techniques required to manage an emergency
Crisis Management
Review of the purpose and functions of a Crisis Management Team
Day Two
The Media, Next of Kin, Pressure Groups
Management of media interest, enquiries from next of kin, government bodies, local communities and pressure groups. Management of casualties, fatalities, family notifications and next of kin welfare.
Incident Simulation Two
Hands on practical exercise for participants
Human factors
Examination of the psychological and structural stresses an emergency can generate and its impact on the site personnel, the management teams, the company structure and assisting organizations
Incident Simulation Three
Final exercise to ensure all participants have practice in all aspects of emergency management at this level.
